Maths

Mathematics, is a universal language that enables understanding of the world, is an integral part of the curriculum. Beyond the study of numbers, shapes and patterns, it also provides important tools for work in fields such as engineering, physics, architecture, medicine and business. It nurtures the development of a logical and methodical mindset.

We use mathematics to explain and understand the world we live in and to make predictions about what will happen in the future. Mathematics is a problem-solving tool that allows us to develop an understanding of all things in the world in which we live.

At Padgate Academy we want our students to talk about mathematics with enthusiasm and excitement. Students will not only have the confidence to tackle new topics but talk about them with mathematical vocabulary, they can evidence their learning and understanding with confidence and pride.

We believe that students need to be able to use the maths that they have encountered in real life situations and that the work they do in school should put them in a better place to succeed in life.

Within the Mathematics department lessons are taught with a spiral curriculum approach so connections between units can be achieved. We strive to provide learning experiences and environments that give students rich skills and knowledge that reflect those required in society, so they can develop and respond to future challenges
